I’d like to thank my cat… (Hang on… I’ve definitely already made this joke…)
That’s because I’ve been nominated for the Liebster Award AGAIN! I’m such a lucky blogger. This time I’ve been nominated by Izzy over at The Next Somewhere, who you should definitely check out because her blog is beyond awesome. She even made me this gorgeous badge to use! (I seriously commend this I’m far too lazy to do anything like this)
Anyway, for those of you who don’t know, the Liebster Award is an award that’s passed between new bloggers to help get them noticed. You get nominated, answer the 11 questions your nominator has given you, nominate a further 11 people and give them 11 questions!
Here are my answers:
Describe yourself in 3 words.
Out-going, creative, and strong!
What’s your travel mantra?
Do no harm, take no shit! But seriously, it’s my belief that if you get the opportunity to travel, you need to be as ethical as possible. Whether that’s making sure you look into local tours/hotels and not huge resorts, not riding elephants or going to unethical zoos, and not partaking in ‘voluntourism’. However I also believe that you need to hold your own, especially when solo travelling!
What’s the best foreign word you know and why?
I’m just reliving the years of Spanish lessons I had in secondary school and the first thing I thought of was ‘sacapuntas’ which means pencil sharpener! (I think). I’m trying to put a little bit more thought into this, but all I can think of is ‘slagroom’ (Dutch for whipped cream) or ‘cyntaf’ (Welsh for first).
What’s a song that puts you in a travelling mood?
I’m currently working on some travel playlists so woooo for this question! My number 1 travel song at the moment is Pumping Blood by NONONO. I literally envision it on a go pro shot backpacking trip around Australia involving skydiving and snorkelling.
Aside from the basics (passport, ATM card, backpack), what three items are must-bring things for you on your trip?
Oh gosh I don’t feel qualified to answer this question because I’m so bad at packing! For me I have to say chapstick, camera and moisturiser!
Describe your best experience on the road.
This is a really tough one and I wouldn’t even count myself as having been properly ‘on the road’ yet! I think probably doing a beer tasting tour in Brussels and making loads of new pals. It was a first for me to do that on my own because usually I’m so socially anxious!
Name the top three things on your bucket list.
My travel bucket list alone has gotten soooo huge it’s gone into a country-by-country deep analysis… and including my non-travel as well… jeez! But I think I’ll go for writing a top 10 hit (career GOALS), swimming in the dead sea and visiting all 7 continents!
You’ve been sentenced to death. What is the last meal you would ask for before you die?
Gosh, intense. So if I’m dying I’m just gonna throw all ethics, morals and health worries out the window and order a Zizzi’s pizza (Hawaiian, obviously) with a huge bowl of every different kind of ice cream I love. And a pint of Kasteel red. mmm.
Who is the one person you would take on a trip around the world with you?
Taylor Swift. (Is anyone surprised?)
Would you rather be stuck with a seven-hour delay or arrive at the airport and realize your flight is tomorrow?
110% arrive a day early, I *HATE* delays so much, they make me so stressed! Plus, airports are so great and assuming I’m in the UK, I have access to Wetherspoons for breakfast and dinner (a few cheeky glasses of wine mmm), and Pret or Starbucks! (Coffee and croissants mmmmmm) (Why do I think about food so much)
What is something you’ve learned about yourself while traveling?
Solo travel is 100% meant for me!
